The Pittsburg Repeater Organization was organized in 1971 by a small group of Amateur Radio Operators in Pittsburg, Kansas. The organization was formed to build and install an Amateur Repeater in the 146 MHz Amateur Radio Band. The Organization received its Non-Profit Corporation status on August 6, 1971. The original repeater license was effective September 20, 1971 with the Call Sign WA0VVW. The repeater was installed and operational on 146.34/146.94 MHz at its KOAM-TV site on September 24,1971.
